What to do when you want to learn so much but there is so little time to do it?

It is not easy to be a geek. There is all that knowledge to be obtained, and all the interesting projects to do. So what do you do when you have only few hours a day to do what you want.

Your brain has a limited processing capacity. It can only do so much before it needs to rest. First rule is to have less to think about at any given moment.

Get your goals out of your head; write them down.

This is one of the reasons, why setting goals and prioritizing is so important. You spend time and mental energy on it once, and learn to have faith in yourself. Goals don’t need to be set in stone, just jot them down on a piece of paper. I personally prefer paper for setting goals. Paper is a physical object that hard to “Ctrl-A Delete” on…

Make a plan; goal without a plan is a wish.

Let’s say it is Monday night. Work day did not go too well. You slept till 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. You couldn’t fall asleep on time on Sunday to get your 8 hours of sleep to start your working week full of energy, like you always wanted to. But it’s O’key because soon you’ll get home and have all that sweat time to learn and make awesome stuff. You get home and… start thinking about what would be so interesting to do right now. It is a difficult decision to make, sometimes. When you have a plan, you don’t need to think about it. Just follow what you have planned beforehand. Because you trust yourself to have made a killer plan. I personally like to use Trello for planning everything. It is simple and effective and free for personal use.

The best plan is the one you stick to; NO EXCUSES!

It is a difficult task to keep up with your promises, especially the once that you made to yourself. It is easy to fall into a trap of “Well, I tried. It’s not the time”. Every time you tempted to say it just remember “do or do not there is no try”. Another great one I like to say to myself when feeling as if I am about to give in is “Just do It.” Plain and simple; this is how goals are achieved.

Reward yourself, after achieving even a small goal.

Oh, such a great feeling it is when you set a goal, planed for it, and delivered on what you promised to yourself. It will boost your confidence; you will gain knowledge and valuable experience. It will give you wings. Live through that exact moment, remember how it feels. You’ll want more of it.

Don’t rush, you’ve got time!

Don’t worry if you are not moving at the speed of light. You don’t have to do all of it today.  You’ve got time. Do one thing, but do it right, see it through. It will make you fill like a champion!

Let me know what you think.
I really enjoy sharing ideas.
